Rolf Lohmann (born February 21, 1963 in Hamm ) is auxiliary bishop in Münster .

Life

Rolf Lohmann grew up in Westtünnen and graduated from Beisenkamp-Gymnasium in Hamm . He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Lohmann received on 14 May 1989 at St. Paul's Cathedral in Munster by the Bishop of Munster, Reinhard Lettman , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Then he was chaplain in the parish of St. Laurentius in Coesfeld and from 1993 parish vicar in the parish of St. John the Baptist in Billerbeck . In 1997 Rolf Lohmann became pastor of the parish St. Ida in Herzfeld and pilgrimage rector at the pilgrimage church of St. Ida . In 2003 he was also appointed pastor of the parish of Ss. Cornelius and Cyprianus ordered in Lippborg . In 2007 he was appointed the non-resident cathedral chapter of the Münster cathedral chapter . In 2011 he followed Stefan Zekorn as pilgrimage rector and pastor at the Marienbasilika in Kevelaer, Lower Rhine .

On April 25, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him titular bishop of Gor and auxiliary bishop in Münster. As regional bishop, Rolf Lohmann is responsible for the Lower Rhine region based in Xanten and succeeds Wilfried Theising in this office . The bishop of Münster, Felix Genn , donated him his episcopal ordination on July 8, 2017 in St. Paulus Cathedral in Münster. Co-consecrators were Theodorus Cornelis Maria Hoogenboom , auxiliary bishop in Utrecht , and auxiliary bishop Wilfried Theising from Münster. His motto is: Vos estis lux mundi (“You are the light of the world”, Mt 5,14  EU ). In the German Bishops' Conference he is a member of the Pastoral Commission and the Commission for Social Issues. Since November 2017 he has also been responsible for the Recklinghausen district dean's office as regional bishop.

Rolf Lohmann is involved in numerous projects in the Holy Land . In 2010 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master John Patrick Cardinal Foley and invested on October 9, 2010 by Reinhard Marx , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . He is a member of the German Association of the Holy Land . He has been a member of Winfridia Münster in the Association of Scientific Catholic Student Associations Unitas since his studies .
