Career
Rüeger began his career at EHC Kloten , for whose professional team he was active in the National League A from 1990 to 1992 . During the 1996/97 season he switched to EV Zug in the NLA. With the EVZ he became Swiss champion for the first time in his career in the 1997/98 season . In the same year he took part with Zug at the European level in the European Hockey League and was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament. He finished the 2000/01 season at AIK Solna in the Swedish Elitserien . For the 2001/02 season he returned to Zug, but switched to its league rivals HC Lugano during the season , with whom he again became Swiss champions in 2003 and 2006.
For the 2006/07 season he joined his ex-club Kloten Flyers, with whom he reached the playoff semifinals and only failed at the eventual champions from Davos. He was also runner- up with his team in the 2008/09 and 2010/11 seasons. Especially in 2009 he was able to convince and was elected Goalkeeper of the Year of the NLA and in their All-Star Team.
