Thibaut Monnet (born February 2, 1982 in Martigny ) is a Swiss ice hockey player . From 2018 to 2019 he played at EHC Kloten in the Swiss National League before moving to EHC Winterthur in June 2019 .

Career

Thibaut Monnet began his career as an ice hockey player at HC Martigny , for which he was active in the National League B from 1997 to 1999 . He then moved to the National League A , in which he initially ran for one year each for Lausanne HC and HC La Chaux-de-Fonds . He then completed two seasons each for Friborg-Gottéron and the SCL Tigers . After the attacker was under contract with SC Bern in the 2005/06 season , he played for his ex-club Friborg-Gottéron the following year before he was signed by the ZSC Lions in the summer of 2007 . The striker won the Swiss championship title for the first time in his career with the Lions in the 2007/08 season . In addition, Monnet and the team won the first edition of the newly founded Champions Hockey League in the 2008/09 season . In 2012 Monnet won the Swiss championship with the ZSC Lions for the second time. In December 2012 it was announced that he was moving back to Friborg-Gottéron in French-speaking Switzerland for the 2013/14 season.

After two years in Friborg, he did not get a new contract there and moved within the NLA to HC Ambrì-Piotta .

International

For Switzerland , Monnet took part in the U18 Junior World Championships in 1999 and 2000 , as well as the U20 Junior World Championships in 2001 and 2002 . He was also part of the Swiss squad at the 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2012 World Cups .

At the 2013 World Cup in Stockholm and Helsinki he was again part of the national team and won the silver medal with it. He was only in one game on the match sheet and was not used.
