Rudolf Hermstein

Rudolf Hermstein (born April 8, 1940 in Juliusburg ( Lower Silesia )) is a German translator .

Life

Rudolf Hermstein completed his studies at the "Foreign and Interpreting Institute", ADI, today Department 6 "Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies" at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , Germersheim , which he completed with the diploma examination for translators . He has been working as a freelance translator from English since 1971 . Hermstein lives in Bad Feilnbach in Upper Bavaria .

Hermstein's unusually extensive translation work includes transfers of narrative literature and non-fiction books from different subject areas such as photography , art , geography and zoology .

Hermstein is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ and the Munich Translators' Forum . He has received multiple grants from the German Translation Fund and the 2009 Translator Prize from the City of Munich .
