Rudolf Palme (born March 6, 1910 in Vienna , † January 1, 2005 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian chess master and physicist .

At the age of nineteen, Palme joined the German Chess Association in Vienna , where he met well-known chess masters such as Rudolf Spielmann , Ernst Grünfeld , Albert Becker , Hans Müller and Josef Lokvenc and benefited from these encounters for his skill level. The World Chess Federation FIDE awarded him the title of International Master . His best historical rating was 2531 in August 1942.

Palme studied physics at the Vienna University of Technology . After graduating in 1933, he received a doctorate in technical physics. From 1937 he worked in Berlin. In 1947 he moved to Reutte in Tyrol for professional reasons . From 1955 to 1962 he worked in Frankfurt am Main .

Palme lived in Reutte until his death.
