The Hasenburg ruins are the no longer visible remains of a medieval castle in the area of the municipality of Bergdietikon in the canton of Aargau .
history
As with the Kindhausen ruins in the same municipality, there are no usable sources. Nothing is known about the users, it is assumed that they served as the landgrave's way-keeper on the way over the Mutschellen.
Building
The castle was on the eastern slope of the Reppisch valley , east of the hamlet of Gimmern. Remains of the castle were still visible in 1868. However, it was then used as a quarry for building roads and houses. Today there are no more visible traces. Because after excavations and investigations by Karl Heid between 1936 and 1937, the foundations were covered again.
The castle is believed to have been built in the 11th century, with only a square tower being built at first. This was enclosed on three sides by a walled, arched courtyard. At a later stage one was on the outside of the circular wall Palas with kennel grown. This hall must have burned down and rebuilt towards the end of the 12th century. A shed or stable was also built. In the middle of the 13th century the castle was destroyed and abandoned.
