The Scherenberg ruins are the remains of a castle from the Middle Ages in the area of ​​the municipality of Safenwil in the canton of Aargau .

history

Not much is known about the former castle. It was built by the barons of Belp and first mentioned around 1200. The lords of Ifenthal owned the castle, Johannes IV. Von Ifenthal, Junker von Scherenberg, exhibited a year for themselves and other relatives in the Ebersecken monastery in 1344. The complex fell into disrepair in the 14th century, and its remains were demolished in 1844. Today the castle hill and a well are still preserved.
