Rusko (Darłowo)

Rusko (German Russhagen ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the rural community Darłowo ( Rügenwalde ) in the district of Sławno ( Schlawe ).

Geographical location

Rusko is located two kilometers south of Darłowo ( Rügenwalde ) and 17 kilometers northwest of the district town Sławno ( Schlawe ) on the state road 37 , which leads from Karwice ( Karwitz ) to Darłowo and into which in Rusko the side road from Bielkowo ( Beelkow , on the voivodship road 203 ) opens. The nearest train station is Darłowo on the PKP line Korzybie ( Zollbrück ) - Darłowo.

The flat, undulating local area is criss-crossed by meadow depressions and is at a height of 10 meters above sea level. Neighboring places are: in the west Porzecze ( Preetz ), in the north and east Darłowo and in the south Domasławice ( Damshagen ).

Place name

The German place name Rußhagen has not changed over time. Before 1945, the village was known across the region and was on everyone's lips in a mocking verse in East Pomeranian: Johann, Spann an, drai Katten vör de Woage, lots juche un joage bet no Rußhoage .

history

The time when Rußhagen / Rusko was founded is not known. In the middle of the 14th century, the village was acquired by the city of Rügenwalde (Polish: Darłowo). In 1493 there were border disputes between Rußhagen and Damshagen (Domasławice). Between 1614 and 1718 the number of farmsteads with 11 farmers and 1 kossät was constant. In 1789 there were 5 more Büdner and 1 schoolmaster.

In 1818 there were 122 inhabitants registered in Russhagen. Their number rose to 212 by 1895 and was even 259 in 1939.

Before 1945 the village belonged to the district of Rügenwalde, in which the place See Suckow (Żukowo Morskie) was integrated. He belonged to the district of Schlawe i. Pom. in the administrative district of Köslin in the Prussian province of Pomerania . Regarding the registry office , Rußhagen was oriented towards Petershagen (Pęciszewko), the competent district court was that in Rügenwalde .

On March 6, 1945, Russian troops occupied the village on their advance to Rügenwalde. On August 17, 1946, the German residents were expelled from the place. Rußhagen came under the name of Rusko under Polish administration and is now part of Gmina Darłowo in the Powiat Sławieński of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (1975 to 1998 Köslin Voivodeship ). Today there are 221 inhabitants in Rusko.

The population of Rußhagen was almost without exception Protestant denomination until 1945 . The place belonged to the parish of the Marienkirche Rügenwalde , which in 1940 had a total of 7,800 parish members. It was in the parish of Rügenwalde in the church province of Pomerania of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Superintendent Franz Molzahn .

Since 1945 the population of Rusko has been predominantly Catholic . The place is still ecclesiastically connected to Darłowo and is located in the Deanery Darłowo in the Diocese of Köslin-Kolberg of the Catholic Church in Poland . Evangelical church members living here are in the parish Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

school

Before 1945, the one-class elementary school was in the middle of the village. It was built in the 19th century. The last German teacher was Paul Jäger .
