biography

Ryan Cochran-Siegle in Bormio 2019

Cochran-Siegle has been competing in FIS races since December 2007 , his first victory in January 2009 in a giant slalom at the Sugarbush Resort . Since January 2010 he has also taken part in races in the Nor-Am Cup . On March 20, 2010, the then 17-year-old achieved sixth place in the Super-G of the US championships and thus secured the junior championship. In the same year, with two wins and four second places, he also won the overall ranking of the Eastern Cup , a racing series in the eastern United States consisting of several FIS races. He was then awarded the Golden Ski for Best Junior by the Eastern Ski Writers Association .

After these successes, Cochran-Siegle was accepted into the junior team of the US Ski Association in 2010. On December 12th, 2010 he celebrated his first victory in the Nor-Am Cup in Panorama Super-G . By the end of the 2010/11 season , another three victories and two second places followed, with which he reached third place in the overall standings, won the Super-G class and came second in the super combination class. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Crans-Montana , he started in all disciplines and achieved eleventh place in the Super-G as the best result. In 2011 he was awarded the Golden Ski for the second time.

After his promotion to the B-squad of the US ski team, Cochran-Siegle made his debut in the World Cup on November 26, 2011 in the downhill from Lake Louise . He first got into the World Cup points on December 3, 2011 when he finished 29th in the Super-G in Beaver Creek . At the Junior World Championship in Roccaraso in 2012 , he won the gold medal in downhill and combined. In addition to the World Cup, Cochran-Siegle continued to play mainly in the Nor-Am Cup. He won three Super-Gs and one Downhill in the 2011/12 season and thus secured victory in the discipline rankings in both disciplines. In the overall standings he was only ten points behind the Canadian Erik Read in second place with a total of seven podium places .

His best result so far in the World Cup is a 20th place, achieved on November 25, 2012 in the Super-G of Lake Louise. At the 2013 World Championships in Schladming , he finished 15th in the Super-G. Due to insufficient World Cup results, he was mainly used in the Nor-Am Cup in the 2013/14 season, where he won the overall standings.
