Sölllandl (also Söllandl or Sölland ) denotes in local usage the geographical extension over the communities of Söll (Tyrol) , Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser , Ellmau and Going am Wilden Kaiser in the Tyrolean Unterland between Wörgl and St. Johann in Tirol .

geography

The valley at the Ellmauer Sattel also forms the watershed between the Inn and Großache (or Kitzbühler Ache in this section of the river), and at Söll the watershed is the Weißache des Sölllandl and the Brixentaler Ache . At the same time, the Sölllandl separates the limestone Alps of the Pölven and the Wilder Kaiser in the north from the slate mountains of the Grauwackenzone , here the Kitzbühel Alps with the Hohe Salve in the far west. The Weißache, which rises south of Ellmau, drains the middle part of the Sölllandl, turns shortly before Söll, accompanied by the Eiberg Straße , then northwards towards the Inn. In the westernmost part the Luecher Bach flows until it flows into the Brixentaler Ache above Wörgl. The Reither Ache , coming from the south and fed by the Goinger Hausbach , which runs down from the Wochenbrunner Alp, then flows to St. Johann to the Großache in the Leukental .

Communities

These four municipalities together form the Wilder Kaiser planning association with a total of 9,727 inhabitants (as of 2017) and an area of 134.4 km², 30.8% of which are permanent settlements.

Economy and Transport

The main line of business in Sölllandl is tourism. The Kaiser Mountains, which are mostly designated as a nature reserve, extend to the north, while the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental is one of the largest connected ski areas in Tyrol on the southern side of the valley . Around 12,700 guest beds are available; in 2016, more than 2 million overnight stays were counted in equal parts in winter and summer.

The landscape is an important east-west connection that is crossed by the Loferer Straße (B 178).
