Sören Fischer

Sören Fischer (* 1964 in Stuttgart ) is a German jazz musician ( trombone ).

Live and act

Fischer has lived in Berlin since 1985, where he studied with David Friedman and Jerry Granelli at the Berlin University of the Arts . He also continued his education in New York, Banff / Canada and Gambia.

At first he was part of Michael Sell's ensemble and was involved as a trombonist in two recordings of his works. Then he was part of the Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra , which with Alexander von Schlippenbach worked (Morlocks) . He is a member of the RIAS Big Band Berlin and the Big Band of the Deutsche Oper Berlin . In 1999 he and his group released the CD Don't Change Your Hair for Me , which received positive reviews.

Fischer is still part of Thärichens Tentett , with whom he toured China, South India and Vietnam. He can also be heard on albums by Lisa Bassenge , Jazzanova and Wolfgang Haffner . He also worked with Ray Brown , Scorpions , James Morrison , Toots Thielemanns , Cyndi Lauper , Holly Cole , Till Brönner , Jim McNeely , Richie Beirach , Joe Gallardo , Aki Takase , Conny Bauer , Nils Petter Molvaer , De Phazz , the German Trombone Vibration and the NDR big band . As a studio musician, he also worked for Robbie Williams , Metallica , Pigor & Eichhorn , Udo Jürgens and Nana Mouskouri .

Fischer was a lecturer for trombone at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin (1995–2003), at the Jazz Institute Berlin (2005–2007) and the UdK Berlin (2009). a. at the music schools in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and City West.

Prizes and awards

Fischer has received prizes and grants from Jugend musiziert , Jugend jazzt and the Berlin Jazz Funding.
