Słoków ( German Schlogwitz , 1936-1945 Schlagenhof ) is a place in the Gmina Lubrza in the powiat Prudnicki of the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

The street village of Słoków is located in the south of the historical region of Upper Silesia . The place is located about eight kilometers northeast of the municipality of Lubrza , about 13 kilometers northeast of the district town of Prudnik and about 44 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Słoków lies in the Nizina Śląska (Silesian Plain) within the Płaskowyż Głubczycki (Leobschützer Loesshügelland) . The place is located on the Młynska ( Mühlgraben ), a right tributary of the Zülzer Wasser (Polish Biała ).

The place was first mentioned in 1379 as Slokowicz . In 1416 it was mentioned as Slawkowicz and in 1485 as Slokow .

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Schlogwitz came with most of Silesia to Prussia .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Schlogwitz belonged to the district of Neustadt OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a castle, an outworks, a distillery, a brewery, an inn, a wooden watchmaking shop and another 41 houses in the village. In the same year 279 people lived in Schlogwitz, 53 of them Catholic. The Catholic residents were parish in Alt Zülz, the Protestants in Neustadt. In 1855 286 people lived in Schlogwitz. In 1865 there were 9 gardeners and 12 cottagers as well as a Vorwerk and two windmills. The residents of Deutsch-Probnitz were trained and parish. In 1874 the administrative district of Schlogwitz was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Deutsch Probnitz, Laßwitz, Polish Olbersdorf and Schlogwitz and the manor districts Deutsch Probnitz, Laßwitz and Schlogwitz. The first head of office was the manor owner and Kgl. Lieutenant Paul von Wittenburg. In 1885 Schlogwitz had 142 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 140 people in Schlogwitz voted to remain in Germany and 0 to join Poland. Like the entire district of Neustadt, Schlogwitz remained with the German Empire. In 1933, 215 people lived in Schlogwitz. From 1933 onwards, the new National Socialist rulers carried out large-scale renaming of place names of Slavic origin. On August 18, 1936, Schlogiwtz was renamed Schlagenhof . In 1939 Schlagenhof had 198 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In the spring of 1945 numerous residential buildings were destroyed in the village, including Schlogwitz Castle. Then the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Słoków and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. The German population was expelled. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the powiat Prudnicki .

Attractions

• The Schlogwitz Castle (Polish: Pałac Słoków ) was built in the middle of the 18th century. In the spring of 1945 the building was set on fire and burned down. The ruins were cleared away in the 1960s. The farm buildings and a warehouse have been preserved. These have been under monument protection since 1978.
• The palace park has also been preserved . This is currently in poor condition. The park has been a listed building since 1984.
• Chapel with a bell tower and a statue of Nepomuk
• Monument stone for both world wars
