Olbersdorf (Polish Olbrachcice , until 1922 Polish Olbersdorf ) is a village in the municipality of Zülz ( Biała ) in the powiat Prudnicki (Neustadt OS district) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

The Angerdorf Olbersdorf is located in the south of the historical region of Upper Silesia . The place is located about four kilometers southeast of the Zülz municipality , about 14 kilometers northeast of the district town of Prudnik and about 43 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Olbersdorf lies in the Nizina Śląska (Silesian Plain) within the Płaskowyż Głubczycki (Leobschützer Loesshügelland) . The place is located on the Młynska ( Mühlgraben ), a right tributary of the Zülzer Wasser (Polish Biała ).

The place was founded in the first half of the 14th century and was first mentioned in 1388 as "Olbrechsdorf". In 1534 the place was mentioned as Olbrechstdorf .

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Polish Olbersdorf and most of Silesia came to Prussia .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community Polish Olbersdorf belonged to the district of Neustadt OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a Catholic school, a farm, a distillery, a brewery and 78 other houses in the village. In the same year there were 551 people in Olbersdorf, Poland, all of them Catholic. In 1855 616 people lived in Polish Olbersdorf. In 1861 a chapel was built in the village. In 1865 there were 23 farms, 15 gardeners and 30 cottagers as well as a brewery. The Catholic school was attended by 97 students in the same year. The residents were parish in Altzülz. In 1874 the administrative district of Schlogwitz was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Deutsch Probnitz, Laßwitz, Polish Olbersdorf and Schlogwitz and the manor districts Deutsch Probnitz, Laßwitz and Schlogwitz. In 1885, Polish Olbersdorf had 627 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 411 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 82 for Poland. Polish Olbersdorf remained with the German Empire . After Eastern Upper Silesia was ceded to Poland, the place name was changed to Olbersdorf . In 1933 there were 605 inhabitants. In 1939 Olbersdorf had 543 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Olbrachcice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the powiat Prudnicki . On March 6, 2006 , German was introduced as the second official language in the municipality of Zülz , which Olbersdorf belongs to. On November 24, 2008, the place was also given the official German place name Olbersdorf .
