The municipality of Zülz ( Polish Gmina Biała ) is a town-and-country municipality in the powiat Prudnicki of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name (Biała) with about 2500 inhabitants.
The community has been officially bilingual since 2006.
Geography and traffic
The municipality is located in Upper Silesia 30 km southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole (Opole) . The district town of Prudnik (Neustadt) is a few kilometers to the south-west. The river Biała (Zülzer Wasser) belongs to the waters .
The city is located on the DW 414 voivodship road . Passenger and rail traffic on the Prudnik - Krapkowice line was discontinued from 1991 to 1992.

The municipality has been officially bilingual since 2006, which is why bilingual place names were introduced in 2008.

mayor
The mayor is at the head of the city administration . Since 2015 this has been Edward Plicko. The regular election in October 2018 brought the following result:
- Edward Plicko (Edward Plicko Election Committee) 68.4% of the vote
- Robert Roden ( German Minority Election Committee ) 31.6% of the vote
Plicko was thus re-elected in the first ballot.
City council
The city council consists of 15 members and is directly elected in single-person constituencies. The 2018 city council election led to the following result:
- Election Committee Edward Plicko 54.5% of the vote, 11 seats
- German minority election committee 26.2% of the vote, 2 seats
- Election Committee “Our Earth” 12.8% of the vote, 2 seats
- Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (SLD) / Lewica Razem (Razem) 3.0% of the votes, no seat
- Remaining 3.5% of the vote, no seat

The village of Czyżowice (Zeiselwitz) was spun off from the municipality of Biała to the municipality of Prudnik in the 1990s .
