Rosenberg (Polish Rostkowice ) is a village in the municipality of Zülz ( Biała ) in the powiat Prudnicki (Neustadt OS district) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

The street village of Rosenberg is located in the south of the historical region of Upper Silesia . The place is about six kilometers east of the community center Zülz , about 14 kilometers northeast of the district town Prudnik and about 35 kilometers southwest of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Rosenberg lies in the Nizina Śląska (Silesian Plain) within the Płaskowyż Głubczycki (Leobschützer Loesshügelland) . The place is located on the Młynska ( Mühlgraben ), a right tributary of the Zülzer Wasser (Polish Biała ).

The place was founded in the first half of the 15th century and was first mentioned in 1467 as "Rostkowicze".

After the First Silesian War in 1742 Rosenberg came with most of Silesia to Prussia .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Rosenberg belonged to the district of Neustadt OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a Erbscholtisei, a distillery, a brewery and 39 other houses in the village. In the same year, 408 people lived in Rosenberg, all of them Catholic. In 1855 401 people lived in Rosenberg. In 1865 there were 19 farms, 8 gardeners and 12 cottages in the village . The residents were parish in Alt-Zülz, schooled in Simsdorf. In 1874 the administrative district Simsdorf was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Alt Zülz, Polish Probnitz, Rosenberg and Simsdorf and the manor district Simsdorf. In 1885 Rosenberg had 471 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 298 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 34 for Poland. Rosenberg remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 428 inhabitants. In 1939 Rosenberg had 422 residents. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Rostkowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the powiat Prudnicki . On March 6, 2006 , German was introduced as the second official language in the community of Zülz , to which Rosenberg belongs. On November 24, 2008, the place was also given the official German place name Rosenberg .
