Sam Houston State University
The Sam Houston State University (also SHSU or Sam called) is a state university in Huntsville in the US state of Texas . With 15,903 students, it is the second largest location in the Texas State University System .
history
The university was founded in 1879 with 110 students as the Sam Houston Normal Institute . After several name changes, it was given its current name in 1969 .
