Grigorowitsch SUWP ( Russian Григорович СУВП , also PL-1 (ПЛ-1)) stands for a Soviet passenger aircraft from the 1920s. Only one copy was made.

development

Dimitri Grigorowitsch built the type in the Leningrad plant in Krasny Lyotschik ("Red Flyer") after a corresponding order from the Ukrainian airline Ukrwosduchput , which is why the abbreviation was chosen: SUWP stands for Samoljot (airplane) U kr w osduch p ut (Самолут Укрвозд). The alternative designation refers to the drive: PL-1 represents P assaschirski c L juziferom (Пассажирский с Люцифером, passenger aircraft with Lucifer (motor)). SUWP was designed as a single-engine, strutted high- wing aircraft.

The box-shaped hull went up too narrow, in the area of the wing even very extreme to the wing area to keep as large as possible. A British three-cylinder radial engine Bristol Lucifer with 100 hp served as the drive . The pilot sat in an open cockpit, the passenger cabin was behind it. In addition to the pilot, three passengers or 210 kg of cargo could be carried. The hull was made of welded steel tubes. The wing and tail of the aircraft were made of wood. The covering was made with fabric.

The machine was constructed under the simplest conditions without static investigations or wind tunnel testing. As a strength test of the wings, each main spar was loaded with six people on each side. In the autumn of 1925, the flight tests took place, which went smoothly. The aircraft was then used on airlines in Ukraine with the registration RR-UOC . It crashed on November 29, 1928.
