Reviews

The US music magazine Spin recorded Sadnecessary out as "Album of the Week".

Amelie Köppl from laut.de described the album as follows: “The evening with Milky Chance at the Dockville Festival 2013 will remain in my memories for a long time. The young man from Kassel had his first album with him, which will be released on the Lichtdicht Records label, which his friends founded especially for him. ... Clemens Rehbein sings and plays as if the proverbial “omen est nomen” had only been invented for him: gentle, caressing and equally impulsive. His debut Sadnecessary tells stories from the gut. In a mixture of pop, singer-songwriting and borrowings from the vast reggae realm, Milky Chance sings thirteen more songs about great love and small gestures after his YouTube hit Stolen Dance . … Just like at Dockville, Milky Chance moves the hearts of listeners with his album. But in a casual rhythm that pop has been waiting for a long time. ”During the Echo Awards 2015 , Milky Chance were awarded an ECHO in the category“ Best National Act Abroad ” for their great successes abroad .

Awards

On December 5th, 2013 the single Stolen Dance was awarded a 1 Live Krone in the category "Best Single". On January 14, 2015, Sadnecessary was awarded the European Border Breakers Award as the best-selling German album outside of Germany.
