Schaqsylyq Ämiräliuly Üschkempirow ( Kazakh Жақсылық Әмірәліұлы Үшкемпіров ; Russian Жаксылык Амиралыулы Ушкемпиров , Schaksylyk Amiralyuly Uschkempirow * 6. May 1951 in Tegistik , area Zhambyl , Kazakh SSR ; † 2. August 2020 ) was a Soviet wrestler . He became Olympic gold medalist in 1980 in Moscow in Greco-Roman style in paper weight .

Career

Schaqsylyq Üschkempirow from Kazakhstan only made it into the top Soviet class of wrestlers in the Greco-Roman style when he was over 25 years old. At a height of 1.56 meters, he wrestled in paper weight, which at that time had its weight limit of 48 kg body weight. In the Soviet Union, Vladimir Subkov and Alexei Shumakov dominated the weight of paper in the 1970s .

He first attracted attention in the international wrestling scene in 1977 when he was used by the Soviet Wrestling Association at the Grand Prix of the Federal Republic of Germany in Aschaffenburg , behind Constantin Alexandru from Romania , but ahead of Wiesław Kucinski from Poland and Jürgen Kleer from Germany 2nd place.

The next known results of Shaqsylyq Üschkempirow are a 2nd place in the championship of the Soviet Union in 1978 behind Vasily Anikin , in front of Anatoly Bosin and a 3rd place in the championship of the Soviet Union in 1979 behind Russanov, but in front of Alexei Shumakov . The big year of Saksylik Uschkempirow was 1980. At the European Championships in Prievidza he came in the paper weight with victories over Uwe Baumann, GDR , Totju Andonow , Bulgaria , Ferenc Seres , Hungary and Kent Andersson , Sweden in the final, in which he won the Poland novel Kierpacz lost on points and thus became vice European champion . He was then used at the Olympic Games in Moscow that same year . There he defeated world champion Constantin Alexandru and European champion Roman Kierpacz in tough fights, each just by points and also won over Ferenc Seres and Pawel Christow , Bulgaria, making him unbeaten Olympic champion . He was the first Kazakh to become an Olympic champion in wrestling.

In 1981 he also started at the World Championships in Oslo . He defeated there Vincenzo Maenza from Italy , who should be his successor as Olympic champion in 1984 in the paper weight, Totju Andonow from Bulgaria, against whom he was wafer-thin with 9: 8 techn. Won points, Leszek Majkowski from Poland and Salih Bora from Turkey and was also world champion .

After that he was only used in a few international tournaments. The last known event of him was the 2nd place at the Klippan tournament in 1983 behind Bratan Zenow from Bulgaria, ahead of Kent Andersson and Freddy Scherer from Germany. In the Soviet Union he was replaced at the championships by Vasily Anikin, Timor Taimuras Kasaraschwili and Məhəddin Allahverdiyev . In September 2014 he was inducted into the FILA International Wrestling Hall of Fame for his services to wrestling .
