Sam F. Shaw

Sam F. Shaw (born June 13, 1946 in the United States ) is an American sound engineer .

Life

Shaw graduated from Loyola Marymount University and served in the United States Marine Corps . In the late 1960s he began training as a film editor, initially working on the popular sitcoms My Three Sons and Family Affair . In 1969 he moved to Fox , where he worked as a sound engineer on television series such as Doctor Dolittle .

From 1972 he worked as a freelance sound engineer for numerous film productions. In 1976 he founded his company Sam Shaw Enterprises (SSE). In 1979, Shaw was collaborated with Robert R. Rutledge , Gordon Davidson , Gene Corso , Derek Ball , Don MacDougall , Bob Minkler , Ray West , Michael Minkler , Les Fresholtz , Richard Portman and Ben Burtt for work on the science fiction film War The Sterne (1977) received the BAFTA Film Award for best sound . When working on Star Wars , however, there had previously been differences between Shaw and Ben Burtt.

For his work on the CBS series Airwolf , Shaw was awarded an Emmy in 1984 in the sound editing category for a series . He had previously been nominated three times for an Emmy in the same category.

Shaw later worked for Fox and Universal Studios as editor and post production supervisor, among others .
