San Rafael is a Filipino municipality in the province of Bulacan , in the administrative region III, Central Luzon . As of the 2015 census, San Rafael had 94,655 residents living in 34 barangays . It is classified as a first income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
San Rafael's neighboring communities are Candaba in the northwest, Baliuag in the west, San Ildefonso in the north, Bustos and Angat in the south and Doña Remedios Trinidad in the east. The topography of the city is characterized by flat lands . The north-western part of the municipality lies in a depression in which the Candaba river marshes spread out, an area known worldwide among ornithologists .
