Sandra Ringwald (born September 27, 1990 ) is a former German cross-country skier .

Career

Ringwald competed in junior races until 2010. From 2010 to 2014 she mainly took part in the Alpine Cup. She took seven wins and took second place in the overall standings in the 2012/13 season . At the German cross-country skiing championships in Oberhof in 2010 , she won bronze in the relay. She ran her first World Cup race in Düsseldorf in December 2010 , which she finished with 45th place in the sprint. At the German cross-country skiing championships in Hirschau in 2011 , she won silver over 5 km freestyle and gold over 10 km classic. At the German cross-country skiing championships in Oberwiesenthal in 2012 , she won silver in the sprint and team sprint. She finished 51st in the 15 km skiathlon and 38th in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme . At the U23 World Championships in Liberec in 2013 , she won silver in the sprint. In February 2014 in Toblach , she achieved 11th place in the sprint, her best individual World Cup result to date. She finished the 2013/14 season in 48th place in the overall World Cup ranking and 20th in the sprint ranking. At the German cross-country skiing championships in 2014 , she won the team sprint together with Stefanie Böhler . In February 2015, she won 33rd place in the skiathlon and 13th place in the sprint at the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun . In the 2015/16 season she took 24th place at the Nordic Opening in Ruka and 20th place at the 2016 Tour de Ski . At the World Cup in Planica , she achieved her best individual result to date with fifth place in the sprint and, the next day, she made it onto the podium for the first time in the World Cup together with Hanna Kolb in the team sprint. In March 2016, she reached three top ten placements at the Ski Tour Canada and took 16th place in the overall tour standings. She finished the World Cup season in 17th place in the overall World Cup and tenth place in the Sprint World Cup. At the German Cross-Country Championships in 2016 , she won over 5 km, over 30 km and together with Pia Fink in the team sprint.

After finishing 22nd in the World Cup mini-tour in Lillehammer in the 2016/17 season, Ringwald took second place with the relay in Ulricehamn in January 2017 . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 , she finished 21st in the skiathlon, 14th in the sprint and sixth in the relay. At the end of the season she came in 20th place at the World Cup finals in Québec and reached 23rd place in the overall World Cup and 13th place in the Sprint World Cup. Her best placements at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 15th place in the sprint and sixth place in the relay. In March 2018 she was third at the German cross-country skiing championships in Reit im Winkl over 20 km classic and first in the team sprint together with Stefanie Böhler . In the 2018/19 season she finished 18th in the Lillehammer Triple and 21st place in the World Cup final in Québec. In addition, she came under the top ten four times in the World Cup singles and achieved her first podium finish in the World Cup singles in Cogne with second place in the sprint. Her best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol were 12th place in the sprint and fourth place in the relay. She finished the World Cup season in 20th place in the overall World Cup and 11th in the Sprint World Cup. At the end of March 2019 she was second in the mass start race over 20 km freestyle and third together with Pia Fink in the team sprint at the German cross-country skiing championships in Reit im Winkl . After the season she ended her career.
