Schattseite is a scattered settlement in the Upper Murtal in Styria as well as a locality (Sankt Johann am Tauern Schattseite) and cadastral community (St. Johann Schattseite) of the municipality of Pölstal in the Murtal district .
geography
The location is around 25 kilometers northwest of Judenburg . The scattered houses Schattseite are right (west side) in the rear Pölstal on the 970- 1,220 m above sea level. A. Height. They extend from 4 km north of Möderbrugg for almost 10 km on the Pölsbach into the valley. Together with the right bank of the village of Sankt Johann , they form the village of Sankt Johann am Tauern Schattseite . It includes around 55 addresses with around 100 residents (January 1, 2020: 106). This also includes parts of the vineyard settlement .
The cadastral community of St. Johann Schattseite with around 3460 hectares extends from the Pölsufer on the right side of the valley up to the ridge of the Bruderkogel ( 2299 m above sea level ) of the Wölzer Tauern , and - also only on the right - into the Pölsen , the source valley of the Pöls, up to the Zinkenkogel ( 2233 m above sea level ), already in the main ridge of the Niedere Tauern , and the Perwurzpolster saddle , which leads over into the Rottenmanner Strechautal .
The shady side includes the less favorable settlement areas on the steeper eastern slopes of the valley.

history
The tax municipality , founded in the early 19th century, was one of the two cadastral municipalities of the municipality of Sankt Johann am Tauern, along with Sonnseite from 1850 to 2014 .
