Santa Rosa is a city in Sonoma County in the US state of California .
Santa Rosa is the largest city in the Northern California wine-growing region Wine Country and with 175,155 inhabitants (as of 2016) one of the largest cities in the San Francisco Bay Area . The Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery was laid out in 1854.

City fire in October 2017
In October 2017, several residential areas in Santa Rosa were almost completely destroyed due to the strong winds of rapidly spreading forest and bush fires in northern California. The historic round barn Fountaingrove Round Barn burned down there. A curfew was then imposed to avoid looting .
