Sascha Oskar Weis

Sascha Oskar Weis (born November 4, 1970 in Vienna ; † March 20, 2020 there ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

Weis completed his acting training at the conservatory in his hometown under Elfriede Ott . He learned to sing and dance during his ten years at German stages.

From 1993 to 1997 Weis was a member of Theater Bielefeld and worked in the productions Klassen Feind , Hair , Clavigo , Angels in America and as Mozart in Peter Shaffer's Amadeus . Via Koblenz ( Cabaret ) he came to the Theater des Westens in Berlin , where he came into intensive contact with music theater and was involved in the production of 30 60 90 .

Engagements followed in Düsseldorf , at the Bonn Opera , the Mainz State Theater , in Bern and in Essen . He was at these houses as Danny in Grease , as Tony in the West Side Story , as Lucheni in Elisabeth , as Enjolras in Les Misérables , but also as Zawisch in Grillparzer's King Ottokars Glück und Ende or as Mercutio in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet zu see.

As ensemble member at the Theater in der Josefstadt played Weis 2003-2005, among others, the poet Rollin in The Green Cockatoo (directed by David Mouchtar-Samorai) and Cleante in Le Malade Imaginaire (directed by Claude Stratz ).

From 2004 to 2009 he was seen at the Reichenau Festival ; 2009 directed by Nicholas Ofczarek in Schnitzler's Game at Dawn . In the 2006/07 season he made his debut at the Vienna Volksoper as Jean-Michel in the revival of La Cage aux Folles . In 2008 he was seen in Die Habsburgische at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien .

Since 2009 Sascha Oskar Weis has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Landestheater Salzburg and there, among other things, as Mephisto in Goethe's Faust I (director: Carl Philip von Maldeghem), as Leon in Grillparzer's Weh dem who lies! , starred as Zwirn in Nestroy's Lumpazivagabundus (director: Beverly Blankenship) and as Petruchio in Kiss me Kate . In addition, from 2010 to 2012 he played Mammon at the Salzburg Festival in the traditional play Jedermann , staged by Christian Stückl, alongside Nicholas Ofczarek, Birgit Minichmayr and Ben Becker .

Weis died in March 2020 at the age of 49 from complications from a heart attack .
