The Sausa district is located in the Jauja Province in the Junín region in south-west central Peru . The district was established on February 24, 1965. It has an area of ​​4.74 km². At the 2017 census, 3060 people lived in Sausa. In 1993 the population was 2318, in 2007 2806. The administrative center is the small town of Sausa , located on the left bank of the Río Mantaro at an altitude of 3380  m . Sausa forms a southern suburb of the provincial capital Jauja and is congruent with the district of Sausa. Sausa is 2.5 km southeast of Jauja city center.

Geographical location

The district of Sausa is located in the Andean highlands, centrally in the province of Jauja. The Río Mantaro flows east along the southern district boundary. The national road 3S from Jauja to Huancayo runs along the northeastern district border.

The Sausa district is bordered to the west by the district Yauyos , to the north by the district Jauja , to the east by the district Ataura and the south by the district Huaripampa .
