history

The history of Schönfeld is closely intertwined with its history due to its geographical proximity to Pfaffroda.

The first written mention of the place dates from 1346, in 1445 the place name is written Schonfelt , in the same year Pfaffroda and Schönfeld were first mentioned as property of the rule of Schönberg on Purschenstein . With the Reformation in 1539 Schönfeld came to Parochie Pfaffroda. August Schumann mentions Schönfeld in 1823 in the Staatslexikon concerning a. a .:

"The inhabitants, about 150 in number in 30 houses, are parish in Pfaffroda, and mostly feed themselves with agriculture (mainly flax cultivation ), cattle breeding and day labor."

In 1877 the volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1935 street lighting was put into operation in Schönfeld.

In the work "Neue Sächsische Kirchengalerie" from 1901 Schönfeld says, among other things:

“Around 1500 it is mentioned that [...] Schönfeld had 14“ possessed men ”. Now there are […] in Schönfeld 10 estates, 16 taverns, 37  cottagers […]. At various times of war suffering came another evil that claimed many victims, the plague. In 1599 it appeared mildly. […] It went through the community more devastatingly in 1626. 115 people […] died in Schönfeld, […]. The Pfaffroda community has three fields of God. The oldest is the churchyard (note: in Pfaffroda). But the other two, located in the Oberdorf von Pfaffroda and in Schönfeld, are also old. [...] The Schönfeld Gottesacker was expanded in 1604. [...] In 1624 a "new churchyard" is mentioned in Schönfeld, where the first burial took place on February 3rd. It seems to have been destined for the plague corpses later. A simple burial chapel stands on each of the two divine arteries that are still in use. "

On July 1, 1950, Schönfeld was moved to Pfaffroda b. Sayda incorporated.

On January 1, 2017, the municipality of Pfaffroda and all of its districts were incorporated into the city of Olbernhau.
