description
The Schloßsee is located in the forest north of Kahl am Main, right next to Emmerichshofen Castle . State road 2305 runs north of the lake, federal motorway 45 in the east , federal road 8 on the western bank and behind it the state border with Hesse . The 14 hectare castle lake is part of the Kahler Seenplatte . It was created in 1970 through gravel mining and is a private property of Emmerichshofen Castle. Before the start of gravel mining, there was a swampy area where peat digging was carried out at today's location of the lake . The Weihergraben ran through this area in the direction of the Schifflache . The castle lake is completely fenced and not accessible. There is a connection to the Lindensee .
