history

Schmieds Puls ( Waves Vienna 2014)

Kovacs, who was born in Burgenland , attended, among other things, the Vienna Music School . She learned to play the guitar over ten years at various music schools. She studied jazz singing for two years, but dropped out; on the one hand because this form of singing did not meet their expectations, on the other hand to devote themselves entirely to songwriting . The environment of the JazzWerkstatt Wien , a musicians' collective that has been organizing projects and events since 2004, was important for their musical development . Through a project by the musician David Six , she got to know the long-time jazz musicians Walter Singer and Christian Grobauer, and the idea for Schmieds Puls developed to present her songs in a band formation. For her two band colleagues it was a welcome step in a new musical direction. The trio's debut album, Play Dead, was released in September 2013 and contained rearranged versions of pieces that Kovacs had previously played solo, which were further developed together with Singer and Grobauer.

In October 2015 Schmieds Puls presented their second album, I Care a Little Less About Everything Now . In terms of content and music, a continuation of the reduced sound of their first album, funds from electronic music were also used, which Kovacs had been interested in for a long time in addition to their songwriting, which was focused on singing and guitar.

In 2019 they released their second album, High Performer. In addition, Mira Lu Kovacs appears solo as well as with other musicians and in other projects, for example with My Ugly Clementine or a new interpretation of Die Arbeiter von Wien with the duo EsRap at the opening of the Wiener Festwochen 2018 and later at Thursday demonstrations or with Clemens Wenger arranged a chamber music program at the Glatt & Verkehrt Festival . Manic Acid Love, the third Schmieds-Puls album, was released in September 2018.
