Career

Gauthier first played for three years from 1988 to 1991 in the Ontario Hockey League before he was selected in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft in the ninth round in 181st position by the Winnipeg Jets . Despite his move to the professional camp for the 1991/92 season, he never played for the Jets, but spent the seasons until the end of the 2001/02 season in the North American minor leagues . He played in the International Hockey League , American Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League , where he was elected to the League's Second All-Star Team in 1996 and 1998 and even scored a goal in the 1995/96 season in the South Carolina Stingrays jersey out of the game. He also played between 1994 and 1996 in Roller Hockey International , an inline hockey league.

For his only brief appearance in the National Hockey League , he came in March 1999 during the 1998/99 season in the jersey of the San Jose Sharks , when he came in for Steve Shields three minutes before the end of the game . He was able to parry both shots on his goal. For the Florida Panthers he also came into the season preparation for the 2000/01 season . He delivered in the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning a fist fight with Dan Cloutier , the goalkeeper of the Lightning.

For the 2002/03 season he moved to Europe. There he played one season for the Swedish Elitserien club Leksands IF before ending his career, which he ended in summer 2005, in the following two seasons at Skellefteå AIK in HockeyAllsvenskan .
