The Seebach is an approximately 2 km long stream in the areas of the small town of Vellberg and the municipality of Frankenhardt in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows from the left and finally west into the middle course of the Buchbach near the Frankenhardt hamlet Bonolzhof .

geography

course

The Seebach arises at about 455  m above sea level. NHN in the large forest area between the Burgberg in the east-northeast, the Vellberg villages Großaltdorf in the northwest and Talheim in the southwest as well as the hamlet Waldbuch in the southeast and the village Oberspeltach in the east-southeast of the municipality of Frankenhardt, all of which are between two and three and a half kilometers away. The inconsistent highest origin is at the Fichtwäldle on the border of the Großaltdorfer to the central part of Vellberg about 150 meters north of the well and wide developed forest road that from the K 2665 Großaltdorf-Frankenhardt- Steinehaig at its Steigenkopf eastwards towards the former military depot in Heiligenholz runs in. About a hundred meters west of this point is the origin of the roughly opposite steppach .

The Seebach initially runs on the boundary southwards to the aforementioned forest road, from which a gravel path leads to the light oaks , then follows this road in the left ditch for about three hundred meters and then changes under it to the south-east run accompanied by a forest path in a now more pronounced valley basin. From here, the district of Oberspeltach borders the left bank, initially in the form of the Heiligenholz forest. After a good two hundred meters, the bottom of the small valley opens into an initially very narrow meadow, into which, after about as much distance from the west, another floodplain tapers, at the edge of which the only larger tributary approaches, which is some ponds in the west in the Vellberger Won forest drained.

From this tributary the Seebach runs east-south-east, the accompanying path keeps, further and further away, to the left foot of the slope, where the lower tree line is initially. After the remainder of a lake dam crossing the valley in the Gewann See , the floodplain widens more strongly. Then the accompanying forest ends on both sides of the slope, which since its entry into the floodplain in a loopless and - except where it briefly touches the forest - almost tree and bushless ditch, makes a last small bend to the east, crosses under the farm road from Bonolzhof in the direction Vellberg- Lorenzenzimmern , which leads past the military depot further north on the heights, passes the Bonolzhof, which is less than a hundred meters south on the lowest estuary spur, with its only two courtyards and then flows into a very wide floodplain at about 432  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Buchbach coming from the southwest , which then continues eastwards.

The Seebach flows after a 2.1 km long run with an average bottom gradient of about 11 ‰ only about 24 meters below its origin.

Catchment area

The Seebach has a catchment area of 2.3 km², which in natural terms belongs to the sub-area Burgberg-Vorhöhen and Speltachbucht of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains . About three quarters of it is forested. Its highest point on a forest knoll in the western Heiligenwald in the course of the northern watershed reaches 484.2  m above sea level. NHN .

In the largest part of the catchment area there is gypsum keuper ( Grabfeld formation ). Only in the highest areas near the watersheds is it occasionally covered by reed sandstone ( Stuttgart formation ): on the forest knoll in the western Heiligenwald ( 484.2  m above sea level ) in the north, in the light oaks ( 478  m above sea level ) in the south , at the spur approach to Neuberg (up to 478  m above sea level ) near the K 2665 in the west. In the widening floodplain, the Seebach runs through Holocene loamy sediments.

The area behind the northern watershed is drained by the Lanzenbach , the other, left upper course of the Speltach next to the Buchbach, which absorbs the Seebach . At the right watershed in the south, the upper reaches of the Buchbach drain the outflow from the adjacent terrain. The western border runs to the catchment area of the Echtbach , which competes over its two upper reaches of the Klingen , the Seebach (!) And Hilpertsklingenbach , and its drainage flows into the Aalenbach , to which the Steppach flows further upstream, which rises on the northwest side near the source of the Seebach treated here. Since the Aalenbach feeds the Kocher via the Bühler , while the Speltach feeds the Jagst , the western and northwestern sections of the entire watershed are hydrologically the most important, this is also shown by the strong blade incisions behind it, while the Seebach itself and its only larger tributary are significantly weaker Show slope.

The only populated area in the catchment area is a farm in the hamlet of Bonolzhof in the Frankenhardt community close to the mouth. The largest part of the catchment area lies in the Oberspeltach submarket of Frankenhardt; About 0.7 km² in the higher area on the north-west and north side with only forest and a few meadow clearings in it belong to the small town of Vellberg , of which the smaller part of the Großaltdorfer, the larger of the central part of Vellberg.

Source of the Seebach at 455  m above sea level. NHN in the forest between Vellberg - Großaltdorf in the northwest and Frankenhardt - Waldbuch on the western edge of the Gewann Fichtwäldle and about 150 meters north of the road from the K 2665 Großaltdorf-Frankenhardt-Steinehaig on its Steigenkopf east to the former military dump in Heiligenholz , closer to the Schiedweg coming from the north . The stream initially runs roughly southwards, only carries water intermittently on the upper reaches and finally turns eastwards via a kink.

Shallow, straight, trench crossing the outside, which begins in front of a small hollow in the Bubenhölzle valley, which is already completely open here, on a farm road running at the foot of the slope.

Mouth of the Seebach from the left and finally about west to about 431  m above sea level. NHN approx. 0.2 km northeast of Frankenhardt - Bonolzhof in the middle course of the Buchbach coming from the southwest and here bends to the east . Speltach river system

Bach character and history

The Seebach and its all quite small tributaries are often dry in the upper area in the forest. The Seebach then has a very straight, hardly ever overgrown course in its floodplain, and the all-corrected floodplain ditches to it are dead straight. A measuring table sheet from 1937 already shows the current course, while on a map from 1851 it flows a little more meander; this is particularly noticeable near the mouth of the Bonolzhof; so it must have been corrected between the middle of the 19th century and 1937. However, even on the oldest map, a lake in the area of the remainder of the dam on the lower reaches can no longer be recognized.
