Segna di Bonaventura
Segna di Bonaventura was an Italian painter belonging to the style of the Siena School .
Life
He worked in Siena and the surrounding area at the end of the 13th and during the first half of the 14th century . The period of his artistic creation falls in the years between 1298 and 1331. In a document November 4th 1331 is mentioned as the date of his death. He was probably a cousin of Duccio di Buoninsegna and painted in his style and that of Simone Martini . In addition, worked several times with Ugolino di Nerio . He signed only four of his works with his “Segna mi fecit”, including an expressive table cross that is on display in the Diocesan Museum in Pienza . His sons Niccolò di Segna and Francesco di Segna di Bonaventura were also painters in Siena.
