Seloi Malere ( Malere ) is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Aileu ( Aileu municipality ). After the independence of East Timor, the Suco Hurairaco was also affiliated to it.

The city of Aileu

Before the 2015 regional reform, Seloi Malere had an area of ​​13.00 km². Now it is 28.05 km². The Suco Seloi Malere is located in the north of the administrative office of Aileu. To the northwest is the Suco Seloi Craic , east of the Suco Aissirimou , southeast of the Suco Fahiria and south of the Suco Liurai . The Mumdonihun River , part of the Northern Laclós system, flows on the border in the southeast .

The overland road to Dili runs along the eastern border and leads from Aileu , the municipal capital in the southeast of Seloi Malere, to Maubisse and the south coast of Timor . The towns of Malere , Ercolobere and Kabasfatin ( Cabas Fatin ) are part of the city of Aileu . In the northeast is the village of Quinta de Portugal ( Quintaportugal ). The city of Aileu has a primary school ( Escola Primaria No. 1 ), a pre-secondary school, a secondary school, a helipad, a police station and a community health center. There is a primary school in Quinta de Portugal.

In the Suco there are the six Aldeias Cotbauru , Hularema , Kabasfatin , Malere , Maurusa and Taratihi .

Residents

The Suco has 4878 inhabitants (2015), of which 2534 are men and 2344 women. The population density is 173.9 inhabitants / km². There are 759 households in the Suco. Seloi Malere has the status of an urban sucos. Over 97% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. Almost 2% speak Mambai .

history

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian camp in Aileu for East Timorese who were supposed to be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

At the beginning of September 1999, members of the AHI militia ( Aku Hidup dengan Integrasi / Indonesia ) systematically destroyed several sucos in Aileu, including Seloi Malere on September 6th, during Operation Donner . Houses were burned down and livestock killed.

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Fernando de Jesus Morão elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Jacinto Ribeiro Dias won and was confirmed in 2016 .
