Fatubossa ( Fatubosa ) is an East Timorese place, Aldeia and Suco in the administrative office of Aileu ( municipality of Aileu ).

The place

The place Fatubossa is located in the north of the Sucos, at an altitude of 1253  m . The Daisoli , a tributary of the Northern Lacló, flows through the village . The village is crossed by the country road that connects the cities of Aileu and Maubisse .

2033 inhabitants live in Fatubossa (2015), of which 1074 are men and 959 women. The population density is 87.8 inhabitants / km². There are 357 households in the Suco. Over 72% of the population name Mambai as their mother tongue. Almost 37 speak Tetum Prasa .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Fatubossa had an area of ​​29.31 km². Now there are 23.14 km². The Suco is located in the south of the Aileu administrative office. To the northwest is the Suco Liurai and northeast of the Suco Lahae . In the south Fatubossa borders on the administrative office Maubisse, which belongs to the municipality of Ainaro, with its sucos Maubisse and Liurai . The Ormoi River, which flows into the Daisoli , has its source on the northern border with Liurai-Aileu .

Apart from the place Fatubossa on the northern border, the settlements in Suco are poorly connected to the outside world. Often they can only be reached on foot or by horse . In the west are the villages of Fatubessi and Erhetu and in the southwest Caicasa ( Kaikasa , Caicassa ) and parts of Bere-Tai ( Beretai , Bertai ) that extends from the neighboring Suco Liurai-Maubisse to Fatubossa. In the center are the villages of Coulau ( Kulau ), Liclaucana ( Lekuakuana , Lekilakuana ) and Hoholete . Besides Fatubossa, Fatubessi and Hoholete also have primary schools.

Erhetu is one of the last spiritual centers of the animistic religion of Timor .

In the Suco are the seven Aldeias Caicasa , Coulau , Erhetu , Fatubossa , Hoholete , Liclaucana and Urhua .

history

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian camp in Fatubossa for East Timorese who were supposed to be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

During Operation Donner in 1999, residents of various sucos aileus were evicted from their homes by the AHI militia ( Aku Hidup dengan Integrasi / Indonesia ). The villages were systematically destroyed and the houses burned down. Indonesian military and militiamen started driving around on September 4th and shooting farm animals. On the same day, the residents of Fatubossa, Hoholete and Liclaucana were forced to leave their homes. In the city of Aileu, they were loaded onto trucks and deported to Atambua in West Timor , Indonesia .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Augusto Seran was elected Chefe de Suco. José da Costa won the elections in 2009 and Mateus Xavier in 2016 .
