Semjon Konstantinowitsch Kurkotkin
Semyon Kurkotkin ( Russian Семён Константинович Куркоткин ; born January 31 . Jul / 13. February 1917 greg. In the village Saprudnaja, Rajon Ramenskoye ; † 16th September 1990 in Moscow ) was a Marshal of the Soviet Union .
Life
Kurkotkin came from a farming family. In 1936 he completed his studies at an industrial-pedagogical technical college and served voluntarily in the Red Army from September 1, 1937 . In 1939 he finished the Oryol tank school and was a political officer in a company until October 1940 . In the same year Kurkotkin became a member of the CPSU and in 1941 graduated from the Military Political School of the Transbaikal Military District.
Second World War
During the Great Patriotic War from August 1941 to January 1942 Kurkotkin was a political officer in a tank company of the 114th Rifle Division within the 7th Army . He attended from January to May 1942 courses to educate yourself as a political officer, was in this capacity from May to October 1942 at the 475th tank battalion operates and from October to December 1942 commander of the battalion. In the following period he was deputy commander of the 262nd Panzer Regiment of the Voronezh Front until June 1943 . From December 1952 to October 1956 he worked as a commander of a tank division and was appointed major general of the tank troops on May 3, 1955 . From February 1959 to March 1960 Kurkotkin commanded the 6th Army Corps in the North Caucasian Military District.

- 5th Guards Tank Army in Babruysk in the Belarusian Military District
- 3rd Army (December 1965 – August 1966) (GSSD) in Magdeburg
On February 22, 1963 he was promoted to lieutenant general of the armored forces and on February 24, 1967 to colonel general . From August 1966 to April 1968 he was 1st Deputy Commander in Chief of the GSSD and then until September 1971 Commander of the Armed Forces of the Transcaucasian Military District. In the period from September 13, 1971 to July 19, 1972, Kurkotkin was deployed as commander-in-chief of the GSSD. This was followed by his activity as Deputy Defense Minister of the USSR and Head of the Rear Services of the Soviet Army until April 1988 . On November 3, 1972, he was appointed Army General. By order of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of February 18, 1981 Kurkotkin "for the great contribution to ensuring and increasing the combat readiness of the armed forces, personal commitment and courage in the fight against the German invaders in the years of the Great Patriotic War," the title was hero Soviet Union and he was appointed Marshal of the Soviet Union on March 25, 1983.
From May 1988 to September 1990 he was part of the group of inspectors general of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR. He lived in Moscow and was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery after his death .
