The Teufelskopf transmitter is a basic network transmitter for television at 695  m above sea level. NHN high Teufelskopf , a mountain in the Black Forest high forest belonging to the Hunsrück . It is located near Waldweiler in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Trier-Saarburg . The transmitter, which has existed since 1962, uses a 120 m high guyed tubular steel mast as an antenna carrier.

Geographical location

The Teufelskopf transmitter is located in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park on the Teufelskopf summit region. It is located in the southeast of the municipality of Waldweiler . The border with Saarland runs about 1 km to the southwest .

Transmitter

The transmission system supplied the area around Trier with analog television and also served to feed the Astra satellite with the ZDF program by receiving and processing the signals from the Teufelskopf in Betzdorf (Luxembourg). As part of the analogue switch-off , the transmitter was shut down in November 2008, the region has since the SWR - Transmitter Saarburg with digital TV in the DVB-T supplied standard. The transmitter has been unused since then.

Almost 100 m east-southeast of the transmission tower is a lower transmission tower that is used by Vodafone .
