Siberia is an American mockumentary about a fictional reality show. In this show, 16 participants have to survive in the Tunguska . The series aired July 1 through September 26, 2013 on NBC .

16 candidates from all over the world take part in a reality show where you can win a lot of money. The reality show is set in a Siberian forest in the Tunguska . This is particularly known for the Tunguska event that was over 100 years ago . However, the participants in the show do not know anything about this mysterious event. A participant in the show injured himself during a task. When no one comes to help, the participants realize that the strange happenings are not part of the show and their lives are in danger. As a result, the contestants forget about the competition and the show and just try to survive.

Broadcasting and production

After NBC secured the series on the international market in June 2013, the station began broadcasting on July 1, 2013. The first episode was followed by 3.07 million viewers, resulting in a target audience rating of 1.1. In the following week, however, the ratings dropped. The season finale aired on September 16, 2013. The series is considered to be discontinued.

The series was filmed in Manitoba , Canada .

Axel Schmitt from Serienjunkies.de wrote: “The inclined series viewer will not find it difficult to foresee the coming. A lively discussion will develop in the group about how to proceed. Those who are hungry for money and those hungry for power will vote to stay in the camp, those who are a little more sensitive to demolition. So there is little surprise on the horizon. ”Regarding the production of the series, he says that“ This series […] was produced with full certainty that it would never become a premium entertainment product. Rather, it is an inexpensive alternative for NBC to show original content even in the summer and not have to resort to constant repetitions. ”With regard to the characters, he claims that while they“ may be unimaginative [and] also modeled, ”they do "A lovable feature [...] can be found in (almost) everyone - even in Johnny". He also says that if “the viewer approaches the Siberia summer project with low expectations, he will hardly be disappointed. Unlike the events in Tunguska, however, the series will only remain an entertainment historical side note. "

The TV.com website listed Siberia at number 100 on their top 100 list for the 2013 television year.

The series received a Metascore of 63/100 on Metacritic based on 5 reviews.
