technology

The Misana in the Kiel Canal

The Sietas shipyard developed the type 175 specifications from the shipping company Godby Shipping and UPM-Kymmene. The two ships were originally commissioned with a carrying capacity of 9500  dwt , 1900  gauge and a capacity of 420  TEU . Shortly afterwards it became apparent that the demand on the planned route would increase in the future, so the ship's design was modified in 2006 and it was extended by 12.60 m. The revised Type 175 has a total length of 165.75 m (155.40 m LPP ) and a width of 23.40 m. The height from the keel to the upper deck is 14.80 m, the maximum draft 7.26 m. Upon delivery, the two ships were measured with 15,586  GT and 11,407  dwt . They have ice class E4.

The 145.60 m long main deck can be loaded via the 21.00 m wide stern ramp , from which a drivable ramp leads into the 92.40 m long lower hold . The 5.00 m high main deck has an area of 2554 m² and has 820 meters of gauge. The lower cargo hold is also 5.00 m high and has an area of 1516 m² with 476 lane meters. It is primarily intended for jamming paper. The 2610 m² upper deck with 859 lane meters can be accessed via a ramp from the main deck. The stern area of the upper deck is covered by the deckhouse and is referred to as the "garage". This roughly 40.00 m long, 13.75 m wide and 4.60 m high loading space can be locked with a hydraulic gate. The lower hold, the main deck and the "garage" have a total volume of 22,900 m³. They are equipped with air drying systems. The type 175 has a container capacity of 484 TEU or 242 FEU. It is also suitable for transporting containers with special dimensions (30 and 45 feet), inland containers and dangerous goods containers . There are connections for a total of 48 refrigerated containers or refrigerated trailers on the main deck and the upper deck. The ships are equipped with six double cabins that are located in the rear area of the deckhouse so that long-distance drivers can be taken along.

The type 175 is powered by two six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engines of the type Wärtsilä 6L46F, which together produce 15,000 kW (20,394 hp) and act on a controllable pitch propeller . The maximum speed is 20  knots . The ships are equipped with gas washers , fin stabilizers and an anti-heeling system which controls the filling and emptying of the ballast tanks . An electrically driven bow thruster with an output of 1100 kW and an electrically driven stern thruster with an output of 600 kW are available for berthing and casting off maneuvers . There are three diesel generators and a shaft generator on board to generate electricity .
