Sindbad (Original Title: Sinbad ) is a British television series based on the stories of Sindbad the seafarers . The series premiered on Sky1 on July 8, 2012. Since October 17, 2012, the series can be seen in Germany on Super RTL .
At the end of February 2013, the series was canceled by Sky1 after one season. The reason given was that the story of Sinbad had been told.

Sindbad and his brother fight their way through life as petty crooks in Basra . But when Sindbad accidentally kills the emir's nephew , they are both captured and Sinbad's brother killed. Sindbad is able to flee, but is cursed by his grandmother: He can only stay on land until the next sunrise. If he is not back at sea in time, he will die. Sindbad flees the city with a ship's crew and from then on has only the goal of breaking the curse and restoring his honor.

In August 2010, Sky1 program director Stuart Murphy announced plans to produce several new TV series, including a 12-part Sindbad TV series. As a production company, the creators of Primeval - Return of the Primeval Monsters , Impossible Pictures , were chosen. With a budget of around $ 27 million, the series is the station's most expensive self-produced series. Filming started in February 2011 in Malta .
