action

season 1

The plot tells the everyday life of a group of Navy SEALs in SEAL Team 6 , explores the conflictual nature of private and professional life situations and, in a second plot level, is devoted to the structure of a terror network, whose model could be al-Qaeda . Both levels intersect and condition one another.

SEAL Team 6 is supposed to arrest Hatim Al-Muttaqi, the leader of a large terror network, in Afghanistan in 2014. However, the mission goes wrong. Richard "Rip" Taggart, the unit's troop chief, also commits a war crime: he shoots an unarmed civilian. The conflict that then erupts in the unit as to whether this war crime must be reported divides the men who see themselves as “brothers”. Joe "Bear" Graves, who has a special relationship with Rip, and Ricky "Buddha" Ortiz take a stand against Alex Caulder. The incident is swept under the rug. Rip leaves the unit as a human wreck and hires out as a security officer for an oil company in Nigeria.

Two years later, at the opening of a girls' school sponsored by the oil company, the Boko Haram robbed the school and took Rip, the teacher Na'omi and several students hostage. The kidnapping of the former SEAL reaches the media, whereupon Michael Nasry, the brother of the civilian who was murdered by Rip, becomes aware of him. Nasry is now a leading member of Al-Muttaqi's terror network, which also tries to radicalize young girls and women via the Internet and to abuse them as tools for terrorist attacks. Nasry does everything possible to get his hands on Rip. He has a well-trained and well-equipped team at his disposal by Akmal Barayev, a former member of the GRU Spetsnaz . Meanwhile, the SEALs do everything possible to free Rip, Na'omi and the students.

Nasry manages to negotiate a deal with Boko Haram and buy Taggart. During the planned handover, however, he had the members of Boko Haram present shot and thus also got to the other hostages. The SEALs are planning to free the hostages at the same time - up to this point without knowledge of the third party - but Nasry and his people were a bit faster. In the shooting that follows, a SEAL is mortally wounded and the terrorists escape with the hostages.

Nasry's solo effort angered Hatim Al-Muttaqi, the leader and self-appointed emir of the terror network. Persuaded by Taggart to do so, this deal tries to negotiate with Boko Haram and the USA: The handover of the meanwhile captured Nasry to Boko Haram as reparation as well as the exchange of Taggarts and the other hostages for 20 captured jihadists . Nasry then tries to persuade Barayev to kill Al-Muttaqi and free him.

Meanwhile, the United States has managed to locate the terrorists' hideout in Chad. When storming the building complex, the SEALs defeat the terrorists after heavy fighting and take Nasry prisoner. Meanwhile, Taggart can kill Al-Muttaqi with the help of Barayev and bring the hostages to safety.

Back home in the USA, Taggart is celebrated like a national hero, but can only slowly get used to the new role. One evening, he is tracked down and shot by one of Nasry's terrorists.

season 2

Rip's death, ultimately succumbing to his gunshot wounds, puts Team 6 under even more pressure. The CIA -Einsatzleiterin Gina Cline during which followed the Bosnian extremist leader Dragan. He blows himself up, but she gets hold of his book, which reveals connections to the jihadist leader code-named "The Prince". He is identified as a former CIA helper Tamerlin Shishoni.

In order to get to Shishoni, Cline interrogates Michael Nasry in a secret CIA hiding place in Macedonia , who provides her with valuable tips on capturing the "Prince". The SEALs try to catch Shishoni in Bosnia , but only get his doppelganger. Caulder narrowly escapes death after overdosing on oxycodone to deal with injuries from Dragan's explosion.

Cline learns of possible links between the Umman Movement group and Russia. The prince kidnaps Andrew Hall, an American businessman. The trail leads to Azerbaijan . Only the secretary is saved during the raid , as Hall had previously been moved to another location. The prince sends the CIA a video demanding that Nasry be exchanged for Hall.

They fall into a trap during the prisoner swap, as the prince planned to kill Nasry and the SEALs and catch Cline alive. The ambush is repelled by the SEALs with the help of the villagers and Nasry is released from captivity in order to undermine the prince's leadership. Caulder's brain injury seems more dangerous than expected. Michael's recruit, Marissa, who shot Taggert, befriends Anabel and Jackie.

Shortly after returning to the US, Cline is released from the CIA, but learns of the prince's connections to the Russian FSB . Michael holds a video conference with Marissa and promises to kill all SEALs. Michael also kills the FSB agents to prove his loyalty to the prince. Marissa tries to assassinate Ortiz, but fails.

During the raid on an abandoned copper mine in Ititala, Azerbaijan, the SEALs successfully rescue Hall, but the villagers who are loyal to the prince ambush the team. Ortiz convinces Cline that Nasry is a traitor and orders a drone strike on Nasry's last position. She has one last conversation with the prince before they are both killed by his suicide grenade.

Marissa tries again to murder the Ortiz family, but is only successful with Lena before she is killed by Jackie.

criticism

Like similar productions, the series tends to tell the plot in a clear good-evil scheme and does not dispense with US patriotism. The psycho-social defects that arise in people who professionally deal with war and violence are present, but are presented in the style of a drama series, i.e. with a certain superficiality.
