Sonoma Coast AVA (recognized June 11, 1987) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area is located in the western, coastal part of the administrative area of Sonoma County . The area extends from San Pablo Bay in the south to the border of Mendocino County in the north. Compared to other AVAs in Sonoma County, the Sonoma Coast is the coolest and rainiest area.
