Spartakiad of friendly armies

The Spartakiad of the friendly armies was an international military sports competition of the Eastern Bloc .

The Summer Partakiads were held from 1969 to 1989 in a four-year cycle, always in the year after the Summer Olympics , and the Winter Partakiaden in a two-year cycle also in odd years. In the event, organized by the sports committee of the friendly armies (SKDA), army athletes competed against each other in Olympic disciplines selected (with regard to their military sporting importance) . The first summer military spartakiad took place in 1958, the first military spartakiad in winter sports in 1961.
