The Central Region is one of four regions in Uganda . According to the 2014 census in Uganda, the population of the region was 9,529,238 in an area of ​​61,403.2 km². The regional capital is located in the city of Kampala . The region is divided into several districts . The region is synonymous with the Kingdom of Buganda , one of the ancient African monarchies that are constitutionally recognized in Uganda.

Demographics

The population is estimated at 11,562,900 for 2020. In the same year, 49.1 percent of them lived in urban regions and 50.9 percent in rural regions.
