Sports ship license
Sports boat licenses are the official driving licenses for driving a sport boat in Germany . The permits are voluntary for the private use of sport boats, but mandatory for commercial use. They are based on the sport boat driving license See , which is mandatory in Germany for driving a sport boat with an engine of 15 HP or more in the area of application of the Maritime Traffic Regulations . The driving licenses are required to drive commercially used pleasure craft in the designated area ( Section 15 SeeSpbootV ).
Driving areas
The sport ship license certifies the holder further knowledge and skills in the areas of seamanship , weather , maritime law and navigation . According to § 1 Sportseeschifferscheinverordnung, the license is available for three sailing areas:
- Sport coastal boat license , valid up to 12 miles offshore,
- Sportseeschifferschein , valid up to 30 miles seaward from the coast and for the entire North Sea , Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea ,
- Sporthochseeschifferschein , valid for worldwide travel.
The certificates are issued on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development by the German Sailing Association or the German Motor Yacht Association ( § 2 Sportseeschifferscheinverordnung ).
International certificate
All sport ship licenses include the international certificate in accordance with Resolution No. 40 of the United Nations Economic Commission International Certificate of Competence . With the help of this certificate, drivers of pleasure boats can prove their qualifications abroad. The driver's licenses have been extended to include a third inside page.
