Sriram Singh
Sriram Singh (also Sri Ram Singh Shekhawat; born June 21, 1950 in Badnagar , Jaipur ) is a former Indian middle-distance runner and sprinter .
He won silver over 800 m at the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1970 , and was eliminated from the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Over the same distance followed a silver medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in 1973, gold at the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran. In 1975 he managed a double victory over 400 m and 800 m at the Asian Athletics Championships .
At the 1976 Olympic Games , he set the current Indian record in seventh place over 800 m with 1: 45.77 minutes. He also finished eighth over 800 m at the Athletics World Cup in 1977 in Düsseldorf, defended his title at the 1978 Asian Games in Bangkok and reached the semi-finals at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
In 1973 he was awarded the Arjuna Award .
