Building description

The building complex was not visible from the street and was covered by the front building, which was destroyed in the war. The church was incorporated as a side wing in the 2nd courtyard of the spacious former Kreuzberg Kolping House. The St. Clemens Church is a three-aisled, neo-Romanesque basilica in the arched style . The north aisle has no windows because it bordered the fire wall of the side wing of the neighboring property. Obergaden are located on both sides of the central nave. The brickwork is faced with red bricks on the outside. The windows and portals are simple. The flat-roofed nave has five bays . There are arcades between the central nave and both side aisles . The transept is short. The barrel-vaulted choir is opened by a high round arch . At its straight end there is a mosaic by Paul Plontke depicting Christ as the Good Shepherd . An organ by the Dinse brothers stands on the western gallery .
