With the introduction of the Reformation in the 16th century, the population and the churches in the Altmark also became Evangelical-Lutheran . In 1539, the first Protestant sermon was given by Magister Johannes Hemstädt in Seehausen, and the monastery in Seehausen was also closed that year. The church was consecrated on June 5, 1938 (Pentecost Sunday) . In September 1939 Catholic evacuees from Saarland also came to Seehausen. Architecture and equipment

inside view

The architecture of the east- facing church is based on the Romanesque old market village churches. The church is accessed through a portal on the west side, above which an oculus is let in. It shows the letters Alpha and Omega (Α and Ω), the first and last letters of the classical Greek alphabet. They are a symbol for the beginning and the end, thus for the comprehensive, for God .

The interior is closed off by a flat ceiling. The church stalls leave a central aisle free and offer 108 seats. The high altar , communion bench , baptismal font and statues still belong to the original furnishings of the church. After the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council , the furnishings were supplemented by a free-standing popular altar . The sanctuary is dominated by a crucifix . Next to the chancel, statues depict John the Baptist, the patron saint of the church, and Mary , the mother of Jesus . John points with his right hand to the crucified Jesus. The stained glass windows were designed by A. Reisdorff from Cologne and executed by the Cologne-based glass painting company Botz + Miesen. 14 stations of the cross are located on the side walls of the church. Under the organ gallery are the confessional , the baptismal font and a copy of the miraculous image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help , in front of which sacrificial candles can be placed. There is an electronic organ in the organ gallery .
