The former St. Josef Chapel is located at Moosburgstraße 28 in the Eyrs fraction in the municipality of Laas (South Tyrol) in South Tyrol .

history

The chapel was built in 1665 by Peter Verklayer, who supposedly wanted to use it to redeem a vow. Until today's St. Remigius Church was built, the chapel was often not only used on weekdays, as the old church on the “Lahngröbn” was often not used at all in winter due to the mudslides of the Tanas stream. During the construction of St. Remigius from 1851 to 1854, the church was also used as a makeshift. The Lasas came to the chapel on the third day of petition with a cross after the chapel of St. Nicholas in Laas had been profaned by Emperor Joseph II .

After the owners, the Verklayer family, were no longer able to maintain the building, it had to be sold in 1854 after obtaining permission from the prince-bishop's office . It was then converted into a residential home.

On the facade of the south side you can see a fresco from the construction period, which shows the Holy Family on the way back from Egypt to Nazareth . The parents wear country clothes and lead the boy by the hand. Mary is shown with a hat and walking stick. The dove of the Holy Spirit hovers over everything.

use

The building was empty in 2017. It is in a very bad state of preservation.
