St. Korbinian is the parish church of the Upper Bavarian community of Rechtmehring in Germany .

history

When the church was renovated in 1976, the old Romanesque walls and windows, which were smaller and lower than the current Gothic church , showed under the plaster of the northern nave walls . The old Romanesque church was also narrower and smaller.

It is no longer possible to determine exactly when the successor church was built. The coats of arms of the Hague rulers Georg IV, Leonhard II, Hans VI can be found in the vault . and Sigmund. From this it can be concluded that these had to do at least with the construction preparation (planning and financing). Hans VI. von Haag ruled until 1476, so the planning could go back that far. Construction should have started by 1500 or around 1500.

Most of the funding was borne by the county of Haag as patron saint , which is why the count's coat of arms dominates the vault. From a year 1516 on the choir arch it can be concluded that the church was consecrated in that year. Presumably, however, the church was not fully completed until 1519. The unknown master builder can be found under the names Stethaimer, Jörg Perger or Ulrich Häntler.

The nave was lengthened by a yoke in 1888 and a vestibule was added.

architecture

St. Korbinian is a Gothic hall church . Since the three naves are the same height, the church looks like a large, bright hall. The three-aisled nave of four bays ends with a large polygonal choir in the east. The side aisles are closed in a straight line at the beginning of the choir. The choir is wider than the central nave, it has two long bays and ends with five octagonal sides. This is more than 5 degrees away from the orientation of the rest of the church and points slightly to the northeast. The tower and sacristy are on the south side of the choir. At window height there are wall pillars and shield arches with bevelled edges.

The partition arches as well as the ribs of the steel-shaped star vault grow from the high columns on both sides of the central nave . On the wall pillars there are profiled corbels on which the vault ribs rest. In the choir, round services are placed on the pillars, from which the ribs of the net vault grow out without capitals.

On the south side between the choir and the tower there is a count gallery. A staircase in the wall thickness leads to the bell room. The choir windows are in three parts wide and with good tracery .

The tower was pointed in the Gothic style, this is shown on Apian's country table. In the summer of 1617, a "storm" spreading across the Hague caused great damage to the tower and the windows. Presumably, therefore, a gable roof was built first. In 1680 the church tower was then provided with an onion by the Hague Hittsberger carpentry shop for 109 guilders, which gave the tower its current shape. In addition, a church tower clock was installed in Rechtmehring for the first time.

Furnishing

Since 1892 the church has been furnished in a neo-Gothic style by the Munich workshop Johann Marggraff, above all the altars, pulpit and eight church windows.

Altars

On the north side of the choir, an altar of the Sorrowful Mother of God with a crucifixion group was set up as early as 1886 . It should be emphasized that the figures in the altars are of excellent quality: They are the church patron St.  Korbinian , St.  Wolfgang , St.  Erasmus , Sorrowful Mother of God , St.  Florian , St.  Joseph , St.  Nicholas , St.  Barbara , St.  Elisabeth , and St.  Monika . The altarpiece in the high altar ”Maria Himmelfahrt” was painted in oil in 1854 by the painter Anton Rick from Ebersberg .

Paintings and frescoes

The altarpiece in the high altar "Assumption of Mary" was painted in oil in 1854 by the painter Anton Rick from Ebersberg. A painting in the Alte Pinakothek by Guido Reni (1575–1642) served as a model.

A large Christophorus fresco was attached to the southern outer wall in 1708 . During the last renovation in 1981 it turned out that under this baroque fresco there was an older wall painting with St. Christophorus is present, probably from the 16th century.

characters

There are two well-preserved figures of saints from the Baroque period, including the statue of St.  Joseph with a lily staff. It is in the choir and could be from Christian Jordan.

The episcopal patron saints St. Korbinian ( Freising ) and St.  Wolfgang ( Regensburg ) are depicted in the keystones of the star vault above the nave and the reticulated vault above the choir  , as well as the sovereign coat of arms : German Empire Double Eagle, Grafschaft Haag and the coat of arms of the Hague Countesses: Aichperg , Pappenheim, Falkenstein, Massenhausen. In the nave vault there are also three keystones with church symbols, a papal coat of arms and the new municipal coat of arms of Rechtmehring.

window

Two small art glass windows, one of which depicts Anna Selbdritt with the inscription: "Let the glass have made a number of closed people 1520". The other glass picture shows St.  Korbinian with a bishop's staff and a bear, with the inscription: "The glass has let the whole Gemain anno domini 1520." Both glass orders indicate that there must have been a certain prosperity in Rechtmehring at that time.

organ

The church received an organ for the first time around 1770, when it was bought by the Attel Abbey . A new organ was installed around 1860, it was made by the master organ builder Christian Müller from Tuntenhausen . By Ignaz way from Plattling then came back in 1912 a new organ after Rechtmehring which was overhauled 1,982th

Bells

Since 1861 there were four bells . During the Second World War , three of these bells had to be delivered in 1942. Only one bell returned to the church in 1949, the one cast by Johann Melchior in 1672 with the tone "as". The other three bells were re-cast in 1949 and have been ringing for services in the tower ever since.
