The first service took place in the new church on November 18, 1962, and the church was consecrated on December 23, 1962 by Auxiliary Bishop Heinrich Pachowiak . On January 1, 1963, the parish of Lengede-Woltwiesche was established, and on July 1, 1969, it was elevated to a parish.
